Daily Bread

Warm rays of sun shine through the windows of my apartment

I drink my green mint tea and read the Bible

then I text a greeting to my mama

She is waiting for my text as she drinks her tea choice of the day

The dampest and coldest of our journeys

the anxious thoughts and endless ruminating

on our regrets and our disappointment

are best tackled when shared with our God

I am a beloved daughter of my mother

Yet both of us have a higher Parent

Who loves us in our joys and in our sorrows

and grants us peace as we seek Him together

He blesses our morning texts for each new day

I love the cozy feeling of this poem, the closeness it expresses.
