I Pray, I Pray

I pray and pray

When times are soft.

My load is low,

My hands aloft.

I pray and pray

All lonely night,

For God and grace

To ease my plight.

I pray and pray

In shifting tones,

With easy thoughts

Or weary bones.

In bright, full hues

Or ghostly gray,

No matter what,

I pray, I’ll pray.
