New issue! Spirit Fire Review, December 2025

Whimsical art depicting a young, still partly-spotted deer bending down to greet an orange, white, and brown bird that has landed on the brown earth, background in browns, plum, peach, and green, trees in fanciful shapes: ovals, circles, triangles, and spots, image by Bianca Van Dijk, on Pixabay, very slightly modified.

Merry Christmas! And I hope our Jewish friends had a Happy Hanukkah!

As I prepare to introduce this issue of Spirit Fire Review, again I'm inspired

by the words of our contributors as they tackle pain, sorrows, and tough

questions of faith.

When we cry out, “what doesn’t fall apart?” (Nicolas Reynolds)

If we are like "a girl on the verge of not believing, in God or herself,” (Rebecca Watkins)

or “when hope is far from us like the sea.” (Roodly Laurore)

If we will realize “all that is true and true and true...” (Nolo Segundo),

the “fullness of time and a stable” (Kent L. Reichert),

somehow, we find gratitude for a “heart that broke but did not harden.” (Georgia Hart)

These creative works celebrate beauty, caring, God's glory, and seem always to find answers of faith.

So, may we be “Too forgiven to be troubled” (Kenn Phillips),

may we pray, “Forever Hosanna Shalom Amen.” (Dallas Powell),

and may we be encouraged by Abigail S. Diaz,

who writes, “I keep the porch light on, just in case Grace passes by.”
