Prayer Poetry

Writing from meditations on the Lord’s Prayer

Forever belongs to You—

the shining kingdom,

the quiet strength,

the glory that does not fade.

Keep us safe from what would harm us,

and guide our steps away from the paths

that pull us toward what is wrong.

Forgive the weight we’ve placed on others,

and soften our hearts

so we may release the weight they’ve placed on us.

Place in our hands

what we need for this day—

no more, no less—

and teach us to receive it with gratitude.

Let the world here

reflect the goodness of the world above;

let Your will move through earth

as freely as it moves through heaven.

Let Your way come.

Let Your name be held in honor.

Let our hearts remember

the One who watches over us

from the heights of heaven.

Absolutely fantastic; perfectly clear and gently figurative at the same time. I'm going to memorize at least parts of this, and the Lord's Prayer will never be the same to me again. I feel like I've gone inside it. It's 3D now.
