Solace and Sense

It was yesterday, the

rains fell bullet proof,

pocking the lawn, and

overflowing the

rain barrels.

Yesterday—a heavy

heart was captive

under my breast, unaware

of the poison being fed.

Last night—

lightning sparked

from east to west, and

the growl of thunder

put bedlam with fear

This morning—I heard

a dove coo, its sweet

melody floated

through my bedroom

window.

This morning—I smelled

the prettiest rose, ran

my fingers through the earth,

and knew God and I were

at rest.

Meet Me On The Way

Meet me on the way, dear Lord,

grant me shelter in Your embrace,

cast off my enemies and shame,

rescue me in Your strength.

Show me the error of my way,

heal the wounds I carry,

loose the chains that bind me so.

Meet me on the way, blessed Lord.

Allow my presence in Your shadow

as I touch the hem of Your garment.

Lead me to still waters

whereupon my thirst be quenched;

refresh my soul, and let a contrite

spirit be found in me.

Bestow tranquility in my awakening;

show me Your abode

that may I sit at the foot

of my Father’s throne

Not of my will, dear Lord,

can I champion anything—

but of You, I wait upon this day...

...tarry not long, and

meet me on the way.
